Your logo of three crimson diamonds, shared with over forty other individuals within the keiretsu, predates Mitsubishi Motors itself by almost a century. It was chosen through Iwasaki Yatarō, the founder of Mitsubishi, as it was suggestive from the emblem of the Tosa Family who first employed him, and because his individual family crest was a few rhombuses stacked atop the other person. The name Mitsubishi is usually a compound of mitsu ("three") and also hishi (literally, "water chestnut", often used in Japan to denote a precious stone or rhombus).
